When the Vision is Big, But the Support is Small

The Vision Isn’t Random. It’s Divine.

Ever felt like God gave you something huge — a dream, a calling, a whisper — and then left you alone with it? You’re not alone.

I sat down with my dear friend and fellow leader, Marquissa Williams in Season 2, Episode 7 of the Graced to Lead Podcast, and we got real about what it looks like to carry a God-given vision, especially when you’re lacking clarity, confidence, or support.

Marquissa reminded us that vision often shows up as patterns - opportunities, ideas, or “accidental” blessings - that point us toward God’s purpose for our lives. It may not come in thunder and lightning. Sometimes it starts with a journal. A nudge. A pause.

Let’s be honest. Most of us don’t get stuck because we lack vision. We get stuck between strategy and execution. We want everything to line up before we move.

But listen, sometimes you’ve got to build quietly in the background, while nobody else gets it... because God has already shown you enough to start.

Marquissa talked about these powerful steps:

  • Write the vision (even if it’s messy)

  • Pray through the silence

  • Build while you wait

  • Find a trusted sister circle or safe place to process it

“God isn’t asking you to see it all. He’s asking you to start.” – Marquissa Williams

When I started journaling, it felt awkward. But something happens when you show up with pen in hand. God meets you there.

One of the most powerful things she said was about spousal or family resistance. Maybe they don’t get it yet. Maybe you’ve already pitched it and got blank stares. Do it anyway with integrity and prayer.

Start building your PowerPoint (literally or figuratively), mapping out what this vision will do for you and others. Let them see your joy as you obey.

Here's what I learned:

  • You don’t need all the answers.

  • You don’t need all the support.

  • You need faith, obedience, and one brave first step.

You are seen. You are called. You are Graced to Lead.

With love,

Belinda

Reflection Questions:

  1. What has God shown me — even in part — that I haven’t moved on yet?

  2. What small step can I take this week toward executing the vision?

  3. Where do I need to build quietly until the right time comes?
